Gustav

I am soooo tired of hearing about Gustav. Ok, I know that some people don't mind seeing the same pictures over and over again, but it makes me question my ability to remember what I have already seen; i.e., didn't they just show that loop??;surely they wouldn't repeat that loop over and over. Oh yes, my friends, they will and do. What I don't get is, don't do an all day live coverage if all you can do is repeat yourself and show the same pictures over and over in between press briefings. Ok, so I know I don't have to keep the t.v. on and I don't, but it still drives me crazy. Maybe my lack of patience has to do with the cabin fever we are experiencing. Have you ever seen Muppet Treasure Island?? You have to watch it just to see the cabin fever part. Back to the subject of the day: Gustav. We weathered the storm well. We are so, so, so blessed with a generator last Friday. God provided just in time and the exact one we were looking at. It is running well, so we are not suffering! We don't have any natural gas do to the gas company not having a generator to run the pumps. Our phone lines are also down, so we are at the spotty mercy of cell phone coverage. Oh, well, at least the satellite internet is good for something!!! I've posted some pictures below. Like I said before, if cabin fever is the worst we suffer, then we are more than blessed. Oh, our neighbor said that our house is the only one on our road with lights!!!
The tree count is as follows: 5 pecan trees in the front yard down with several others leaning; one oak by the house; and at least 3 by the creek that I have seen so far. All of the fruit trees did well and some of our citrus trees didn't even lose the couple of oranges that are on them!

Long time, no post....

Wow how time flies by. Where did the summer go?? I think it is funny how people refer to summer as when kids are not in school but I tend to refer to it as hot weather which is like 7 months here in La. Anyhow, I digress, I can't believe school is already in session. Sean asked me the other day, "Mom, when will I go to school?", to which I replied, "We are going to start doing school work soon at home", then he said, "but school is far, far away; you have to ride a school bus to get to it!". Here are some pictures of the balloons, skydivers, and fireworks from the balloon festival. It was so much fun and best of all it was free! I highly recommend it to everyone!! Plus, it is a great opportunity to get some really neat pictures!

As most of you know, Azure disappeared much to our dismay. Everyone was heartbroken. Yesterday, we went and got two of her cousins. They don't have names yet as we just got them. They are very sweet!!!

She is a little bit more shy, but is warming up nicely!

Summer Fun

Around the farm...

Lots of things have been going on around here. It is HOT, but we have had some days with a nice breeze, so that is nice! The boys have started swimming lessons and so far so good. Here is a bunch of pictures of different things...

Ok, so this is what I found in my house the other day. Kind of freaked me out when it started moving!! I thought it was a toy...

This year will see some additions to our family. We recently got a catahoula puppy, who we haven't figured out a name for yet. I will post some pictures soon. The other addition will come around Christmas/New Year. We are excited!!!

My New Do...

Ok, I don't know what came over me, but I decided to cut my hair off. No, I didn't do it myself, Amber is the guilty party!! I like it a lot, but Seth said it looks too boyish, oh well. Just wanted to let you get used to it before I shock you all in person!! Sean did the honors of taking the picture!!!

All is well here at Chandlers Rowe. Spring is here and we are scrambling to get the plants in the garden and seeds planted. We have been a bit delayed with weather and a full schedule, but we are getting there!
We really enjoyed having our good friend Deanna in town from Nepal! She brought the cute outfit for Nadya that she is wearing in the pictures! We miss you Deanna!!



We have done some serious tree cutting. Seth cut down seven trees that were next to the house. They were gumball trees for which there is no good use around our house, so down they came. I even learned how to drive the tractor and help him pull them away from the house. I enjoyed that! I know the boys don't seem very excited to be on the tractor in this picture, but they were, they were just tired and being contrary for the picture. With their Daddy is their FAVORITE place to be and I'm happy with that 100%!!

Well, I had my ear operated on last Tues. and I think I can finally say I have rounded the corner on recovery. I would post pictures, but I'm just not sure that is necessary, but they basically cut the entire length of the back of my ear where it is connected to my head and patched my ear drum. It is feeling more normal today when I touch it, so I am thrilled about that. I will go to the doctor Thurs. to check and see how things are doing internally. I am praying great, because that is something I don't want to have to repeat!!! Oh, and as for the blog title, well that is referring to me. I have a sponge and a cottonball in my ear, not to mention it isn't working right yet anyway, so as you can imagine, I have repeated that many times in the last week! I guess it is ok when it comes to hearing screaming kids though, right??!! Hope you all are having a fantastic spring!!
