All I want for Christmas...

A picture of my niece, Cori; she is a month younger than Nadya.

Well, we have our Christmas tree up! The boys are so excited! I had a time convincing Seth to get one, but even he admitted that hearing Aubrey say Christmas tree is worth every penny we paid for it! The first thing the boys want to do in the morning is turn on the lights! I have to get it on video!

Our chickens are getting settled and their egg production has increased. We picked a dozen the other day but most days it is around 10. Seth is happy because they are finally starting to lay in the boxes we put for them instead of on the bottom of the cage! We try to let them out every evening so they can scratch in the grass because the pen they are in is very small. I think it was Monday afternoon I was outside holding Nadya in one arm and an egg in the other hand watching the chickens and the rooster decided that I was all of a sudden a threat so he started to try and spur me. I wish I had a video of it, because I am sure it was a hilarious sight to see me doing this "dance" with this rooster. He would squat down and jump up to spur me at which time I would kick at him with my foot and jump back. I only had crocs on so it wasn't very convincing apparently becuase he wouldn't stop doing it! I was afraid poor Nadya was going to get whiplash from all this. Well, after a couple minutes of this I got tired of it and found a stick. Lets just say the rooster got the message!! He hasn't bothered me since. Maybe the stick in my hand is a clue to him!! The funniest part of it all was when he decided it wasn't worth trying to spur me, he ran back to the cage clucking like he never has before. I thought for a minute I had maybe hit him a little to hard, but as soon as I got back to the house he started crowing again. Guess it was just his white flag of surrender!

Well as for the title of this post: my two front teeth! Nah, I already have those thank God! But for the first time in my life I actually heard the entire song on the radio. Did you know the only reason he wanted his two front teeth is so that he could whistle??? I would have said something like, so I could eat!! (much more important than whistling!) Anyway, I digress, all we want for Christmas is Webby to come home and some cooler weather because the broccoli is starting to flower when the heads are only like 3 inches in diameter since the weather is so warm! The bees are enjoying it!!
Below is one of the pictures I took trying to get one for a Christmas card. Don't let the busyness of this time of year get in the way of enjoying the wonder and joy that we as believers should have when celebrating our Saviour's birth!

Sad Times...

Well, we have some very sad news. Webster has been missing for 1 1/2 weeks now. We miss him terribly and fear the worst has happened. I went down the road and passed out pictures of him, but no one has called. The boys miss him. Every time they see a large dark dog they say it is Webster. There is a slim chance he still might return. We are still hoping...

But I want my teeth to rot out....

Nadya and her "Bling" pacifier
An update on life here at Chandler's Rowe. It finally got cold enough to lite a fire again! We are really enjoying the colder weather (especially Scout;see picture below). It, for some reason, gives me more energy when it is cooler outside.

We have aquired a new dog since my last post. He is a Keeshond and his name is Scout. He is about 5 months old and is very sweet and has a ton of hair! Webster was so cold the other night he let me tuck him in to sleep (see picture below) and Scout was laying on the brick panting because he had been running around. They are so
funny to watch when they play. Webster and Scout
will be playing and Rooster (the neighbor's dog)
will run up and try to join in the tussle.

Webster all tucked in for the night

The newest member of our family-Scout
The garden is doing good. We have broccoli heads that are softball size and cabbage that are about the same. Our tomato plants didn't survive the frost that we had. We covered them, but the dew had already fallen by the time we covered them at midnight so we were a bit dissapointed at that! We will be ordering some peach and citrus trees soon. So we are planning for that.
Well, you are probably wondering about the title of this post. That was Sean's response to me calling for him to come and brush his teeth the other night. I had been trying to convey the reason behind brushing our teeth to him, but apparently his consequence reasoning is not mature enough yet. Note to self: don't try to reason with a three year old! Life is good here and its all because of God!

When it rains it pours....

Well, it was certainly a true Monday yesterday! Seth woke up and found a wasp on the window seal and killed it, thinking one just snuck in somehow. Nope, we found them off and on in the house all day. We think they are in the chimney. Then, while I was washing clothes the toilet was bubbling when the washer would drain. When I went to cook lunch there was no gas and of course yesterday was a holiday! To top it off when I went to get my clothes out of the dryer they were wet, so I put them back on thinking I had just forgotten to turn them on-wrong-the dryer is broken so I had to go to my neighbors and dry my clothes. Other than that we had a great day. All I could do was laugh! Here are some recent pictures of the kids. Life is good here at Chandler's Rowe! Isn't God good!?

Look out for the snake!

Here is the snake my neighbour killed. She was driving and saw it so she stopped on top of it. Then, when she got home she walked in the back of her truck not realizing that it was still alive. She found that out when she woke up the next morning and the snake had crawled up to the cab in her truck!! It was 39" long. Glad it wasn't in my yard!!

Below is a picture of the boys in the bathtub. When you can do this to their hair it is definitely time for a cut!!

All chicks go to Heaven...

A sad thing happened last night. One of our Silver Laced Wyndottes died peacefully in its sleep after a brief illness. Viewing of the body was at 9:20 to 9:20:30 this morning. After a brief ceremony a short memorial walk to the garbage can was made where its remains were placed. May it rest in peace. He is survived by 7 sisters and 1 brother and 17 cousins. In lue of donations please refrain from eating chicken for 24 hours. He lived a short but good life...

Sean's Birthday Party

Ok, so I have been wanting to post this for over a week now, just never got around to it. We had a great time at Sean's party. We also had a great turnout. Around 60 folks were here including the children. They enjoy playing outside and getting to see Hoover. The cake came out good and we only had a small chunk left which we promptly sent next door. I personally abhorred the word cake after making it!! All I have to say is I am extremely glad the kids only have one Birthday each a year and right now they are spaced rather nicely! Enjoy the pictures...

The Magnificent Seven....

Ok, so I have been meaning to post pictures of our chicks all week. I finally got around to it. Last Thursday we got 24 (it was supposed to be 26) chicks in the mail. They were so cute. I say were for two reasons; 1:they are fowl and fowl are only cute till they start pooping everywhere! 2: We had 17 fatalities last night. Yes, we woke up to 7 chicks. 5 Black astralorps, 1 Rhode Island Red and the mystery chick they sent (notice I didn't say free chick as they shortchanged me 2 chicks) that I still can't figure out what it is. So, I will order more chicks Monday and we are going to do some serious renovations on the pen. We might be eating some dog here in the future. I won't mention any names but there were white/cream dog hairs on the pen and the chicken wire was torn into a big hole. Well, I'll keep you posted. Below are some of the cutest pictures we took before the great massacre...

Coming Soon....

Our chicks are shipping today, so we will get them tomorrow, Friday, or Saturday! They send you a free exotic breed chick when you place a chick order, so I can't wait to see what they sent us. Maybe it will be one of the chickens that lays colored eggs.....

The Boys

In Sam's (Sean has "crazy hair")

Slaughter, La (Warning:Graphic contents--Readers beware!!)

So, I get this call from Seth while I am in Sam's saying that one of the neighbors calves got trampled and they said we could have it, if we wanted it. I got back home and the following pictures are what I was greeted by. We had eight vehicles parked in the yard, it looked like a block party!! Seth will be talking about this for a while; I am just warning you!! He had so much fun, he said he is going to put a cleaning station in the yard where the deed was done yesterday!
